"Grant a film its premise" is a long-held view of mine. The premise behind Snowpiercer is so utterly insipid however that I find such impossible.
That a train whose ride was ticket and running on conventional rails continues to rocket its way "around the globe" for decades becoming the only place containing human or any other high life form during seemingly endless snowfall at sub-arctic temperatures with no maintenance performed on the track and never stopping for any sort of supply is truly ignorant. Any single one of those qualifiers makes it dumb but this is beyond inane.
Perhaps the politically correction connection to global warming is the reason professional critics and many others refuse to give it the awful rating it deserves for fear of being labeled "deniers. Perhaps it is proof the the world envisioned in "Idiocracy" is far closer than I want to believe.
I will not trouble the reader with any sort of details and only suggest that watching it is a complete waste of your time.
Should you actually manage to watch the thing without dozing off and feel like using the word "smart" as a positive criticism it is time for you to consider a long stay in rehab.

But one last treat arrived on Sunday, courtesy of the Wonder Woman panel at Brazil"s Comic Con Experience: the very first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. The follow-up to 2017"s Wonder Woman is set 40 years later and puts Gal Gadot"s Diana Prince in the conflict of the Cold War. Having lost many of her friends over the years, she"s in a dark place, and on top of that faces a new villain in the form of Kristen Wiig"s Barbara Minerva, an archaeologist who by way of a lost city and an ancient ritual ends up channeling an ancient goddess known as Cheetah. The trailer hints at a friendship between Diana and Barbara, one that may take a turn for the worse. Diana, ever one for heroic sayings, offers: "Nothing good is born from lies. " We also see the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Diana"s long-lost love who sacrificed himself in the first film. How does he come back from that? No clues just yet. Director Patty Jenkins reportedly intended the sequel to be a standalone film, much in the same way James Bond and Indiana Jones movies don"t carry one continuous story. Jenkins has also teased that 1984 will be a "great love story, " which may be why Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor, although Jenkins offered no explanation for how he returns from the fate he met in the first movie. Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright are also back as Hippolyta and Antiope respectively, but may only appear in a flashback sequence. The Mandalorian"s Pedro Pascal takes on the part of Maxwell Lord, "king of infomercials, " according to Jenkins at the panel, a role which will presumably show his face. Pelle foreshadowing that his parents were lost in a fire also deserves some attn. Now this probably the point at which normal people would realize that all is not well with this place, and that it would be a good idea to gather up your gear, make some polite excuses and leave. And then they were like Nah, it"ll be finnnne... I didn"t like it as much as Hereditary, but it was still my third favorite film from 2019, behind Parasite and The Lighthouse.

Long live A24. It"s exactly what we always needed. This scene was actually very triggering for me because it made me relive a very bad trip I had, almost frame for frame. I had never done drugs before and tried a synthetic marijuana with my friends ????‍?? everything was fine until they started laughing and then suddenly the panic set in, I jumped up and started running towards the woods to get away but trees and ground were warping and moving and it scared me even more JUST like in the movie. I felt more invested in her character because I remembered feeling like she did. This was an amazing movie. Oh my god, I"m dying. ?? I liked Midsommar, but this review is hilarious.

This film literally ruined my life. For anyone who has not taken mushrooms or psychedelics, the scenes in this movie are incredibly accurate. it is the single most accurate depiction of psychedelics i have ever seen. the faces in the trees and landscapes, everything. its just incredible. also as someone with panic attacks the way florence plugh acts them is almost enough to trigger one. she is really, really good.
